other works

I made this poster based on Amelie's movie, So I tried to create  a simple, colour block, sweet image, with a title "Amelie" in a font which has the same features: simple but sweet and beautiful, so it matches with the whole style of the image and the movie. I choose red colour for it because apart from matching with the umbrella (and the whole colour palette), it also calls the attention of the viewer (red is a strong colour), because is placed just a little off the centre, next to the girls face.

I made this image of a gypsy caravan with some text    ( we are like wind/ who knows where it goes?)
I used a font which looks handwritten, to match with the gyspsy theme ( wouldn't make sense to use for example a font which gonna remind us to technology)
and positioned framing the image, all very simplistic.

hand drawn typography III

*1

*1/ children party typography. thick, colourful and playful. The font is related to the meaning of the word.
*2

*2/  this kind of font could be used for something like a children horror book/film title, as is kind of edgy and straight, also is grey, but it isn't enough spooky to be "serious", this is why I say children horror, instead adult one.

*3
*3/ This could be used on anything with would be related to plants/flowers/gardening... example: poster/cartel for a gardening competition.
-note colours and font are related to text. (word green is in green, as it's also the leave, word red is written in red, as red it's the rose drawn in it)

*4
*4/ very simple and standard. note relation between colour and meaning .

*5

*5/ This typography could be used for things like notebooks, mugs... as is curvy , kind of lay down and in nice calm colours.

*6

*6/flat. representation of the meaning trough the font.

*7

*7/ This font could be used for things like packaging for hygienic stuff (toilet paper, soap...)
simple and bold font in a "clean and fresh" light blue colour.

*8

*8/ purple. as pic 5, this kind of handwritten font could be easily use on notebooks, agendas, mugs, postcards...

*9

*9/ Ovni.  Ovni is the Spanish acronym for unidentified flying object. This is why the O is an alien face while the rest of the letters are just simple and black. Could be used in anything

Nuria.  messy handwritten style font. Not sure I would use this for anything.

*10

*10/ Simple and long font. note the relation between font and text.
*11

*11/ COLORS. colourful, playful and fun font. Could work perfectly in anything related with or made for children.
related text and font.

SOLD OUT.  simple and straight font. in capital letters to get the message straight.
related font and text.

Final piece.

For this work I wanted to create a poster inspired by the Art Nouveau, which I personally admire, and then add some typing to it.  So with Illustrator I created this image framed by some decorative ellipses, accompanied by a quote, in a retro font, very simmilar to the ones were used in posters like Mucha's, matching with the style of the rest of the image, and occupying a good part of the left side of the page, in a big font, so even if you get distracted by the drawing, the typing will be a noticeable and important part of the work.
At the bottom, in a different font, bigger, in capital letters, it's written the word ALOUD. The meaning of the own word is the reason of a different bigger font, trying to make a match between the meaning of the word and the presentation of the same.

There's a second version of the same poster, where just the position of the objects have changed.
Now the drawing rests on top of the quote, but again, the same quote and fonts, so the same effect; maybe now it seems more like a title, looses a little strength.

hand drawn typography II

*1

*2

*3
*1/ This kind of typing, thick and colourful could be use in party/festival poster or flyer, because it has big thick capital letters, clear and easy to read but is also colourful and playful.
*4

*2/ Letters. this could be used in a title of a fairytale book or similar.
Curvy thick letters, but quiet simple and easy to read.

ABC... 1word. I don't think this works very well.  Both of the typographies are bold and edgy, kind of ugly. I don't think I would use them for anything.

*3/ Already themed typography (it has a drawing included in it)
-note the relation between typography and meaning of the text.

*4/ straight and bold typing. could be used for titles on posters or simmilar.

-note the relation between typography and meaning of the text.

Commercial poster

In this absinthe advert we can see a woman lifting a glass of  this drink with devotion. Just above her head, on the upper left corner, we find the text ABSINTHE ROBETTE, which is the name of the product. It's written in thick capital letters, in a matching style with the picture's one.  Caged in a white piece, the words are green matching with the background colour. This is also placed just next to the absinthe glass ( which is on the upper right corner), and on top of the woman's head, like framing the scene, something that you wouldn't miss.

Horror movie poster

This poster is basically a photograph with a title in which we can see something horrible happening to a man ( portrait format) in a cold soft light, and a grey colour palette. just on top of the image (top centre) where the background colour is lighter, it's written EVOLVE, the title of the movie, in thin capital dark red letters, with little blood splatters, matching with the horror theme.

                                              Cigarettes advert

In this picture appears a woman smoking a cigarette, young, good looking... she also seems nice and soft. Next to her head in a nice, curvy typography is written: "My throat is safe with Craven A... you can trust their smoothness and quality". There we can note the link between the nice sweet looking woman and the kind of typing as well as the features described on the text.

Political poster
In this poster the lettering is as or even more important that the image, in which we can see Uncle Sam pointing his finger at you and looking you in the eye (making it almost a personal thing), surrounded by the text I WANT YOU/ FOR THE U.S.ARMY/ ENLIST NOW, a pretty direct and strong message, written in big block capital letters, in blue and red on a white background (the colours of the american flag), also notice that the word YOU is underlined, reinforcing the feeling that is something personal to the specific person who read it.
